Our Mission
Discovering hope through Jesus Christ, to be redeemed, renewed, and restored.
Our Vision
To create a safe haven for those who seek refuge and hope for a new life.
Our Key Verse
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The old life is gone, a new life has begun! ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17
How We Got Started
Discover Hope 5:17 was started in June of 2014 by Robbie Robinson—a convicted felon—and Aaron Groves, a local law enforcement officer.
Through a church course, they would learn about each other and what God has done in their lives. God gave them a vision for a ministry that would impact their community.
God’s vision led to the formation of Discover Hope, and a partnership dedicated to helping a community that has struggled to find its own recovery for many years. Their goal is to continue building strong, Christ-centered foundations under people so they can go out into the community and change the lives of others in a positive way.
Where We Are Now
Discover Hope 517 ministry has grown from a 1-night support group to a community center that is open to the community for over 47 hours/week. We acquired a new community center building in 2018. After reconstruction was complete, we had an Open House and Ribbon Cutting in June 2019. God is on the move as we continue to grow and we are excited to see what God has planned for His Ministry in our Community.
We are open weekdays 9 am–4 pm, offering a FREE lunch 11:30 am–1:00 pm. We have a variety of support services throughout the week as DH517 strives to be a bridge in the community.
Our building has an attached living area that houses up to 10 men for our Restoration House. At this time, we are unable to accept applicants. We are in the hiring process for a Resident Manager. Please click here for additional details.
