Even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
1 Corinthians 10:33
I admire Lori’s dedication in serving the Lord. When I sat down to interview Lori, she made it clear that she is not volunteering for human accolades. She is only doing the Lord’s work and does not need any recognition.
Lori volunteers for many different businesses in the Newton area, including the Jasper County Museum, The Way church and RSVP Ride Share. You would think these particular volunteer opportunities would fill up her schedule. However, she will always make room for more. Wherever God leads her, she will follow.
Lori has been helping with Discover Hope for about five months. She heard about the opportunity through The Way church and her son-in-law, Nathan. She thought it would be interesting and wanted God to use her in any way possible. Currently, she is working at the front desk directing visitors, but she is willing to do anything that is asked of her.
Lori recommends volunteering for everybody. “It doesn’t matter where you volunteer. Get out there to help others live a successful life. It is rewarding to be able to help and minister. I feel blessed,” Lori commented.
Volunteering has helped Lori grow in her relationship with God. The more she shares God’s love, the easier it becomes for her to approach people she doesn’t know. There will always be things in a person’s life where they need to turn to God. Why not be the one to help those need?
